Inspiration
The global pandemic has heavily impacted education for students all around the world. Being students ourselves, we wanted to build a product that would ease the burden of switching to online learning. One of the major inconveniences that we found with online learning was dealing with all the links and navigation. We would have to open up dozens of tabs just to do an assignment. This can get really frustrating at times, especially considering the fact that the assignments are already very difficult.
What it does
My Hub allows students to organize their online learning by putting all of their links and resources onto one webpage. It takes care of all the navigation issues so that students can focus on school. These links are displayed as widgets or images. The users can fully customize the position and content of every widget. This not only makes the website look stylish, but it also adds a personal touch.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build this project. As beginners, this seemed like the perfect project to learn the basics of front end web development.
Challenges we ran into
We faced many challenges while building this project. In particular, we struggled with responsive web design. Our project was all about different layouts, which made it really hard to deal with different display sizes. As beginners, we came into this hackathon knowing that we will face several challenges. I order to overcome these challenges, we saw them as opportunities to learn. Through perseverance and teamwork, we were able to overcome and learn from these challenges.
