Inspiration
Pain point #5 at Hack This Help Kids. Our own medical data is something we need to be able to be control of. Not everything related to our health happens in the doctor's office, and storing our medical records separately with each doctor we visit (which could be dozens over the course of even just a year) is simply unacceptable in our day and age of technology information.
What it does
My.Health allows caregivers and individuals the ability to always keep track of their family's medical histories and securely and confidentially share information with their doctors without the need for other doctors to send them information. This also allows the users to record their own health issues that happen outside the doctor's visit, such as vacation health issues, quick pains, etc. Never again will you have to recall your medical history as it will always be ready to view, access, and update from the convenience of any internet connected device.
How we built it
To build the software architecture, we used React in tandem with Redux and Typescript for a solid, consistent structure for creating this complex application. We all learned it as we did the project and were thoroughly surprised about the results.
Challenges we ran into
Learning React/Redux/Typescript stack and developing a smart component architecture for ourselves to make development efficient and smooth as we all collaborated to write code for it. Another challenge was making a nice UI/UX for the user while keeping a neat structure for exporting the data for care providers.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Developing a full application with state management in less than 24 hours while collaborating efficiently to use version control in a way that allowed us all to code simultaneously on the same files.
What we learned
The beauty of React, Redux, and Typescript stack that allows for an efficient and consistent architecture.
What's next for My.Health
Expanding My.Health has a lot of opportunity. Collaborating with current medical record programs to grab accurate and up to date data so the user doesn't have to enter their own data in. integrating with Fitbit and Apple Watch to grab health data.
