Inspiration
I have participated in few hackathons. Everytime I try to find new team members , I have to go through potential team members bio / portfolio page and see if they are a prospective match. Message and shortlist some of them and bring them under one platform and then start discussing about the actual problem & ideas. This is hugely repetitive.
Instead of this , I want to first showcase (basic minimum information) like how I want to solve/ approach the hackathon problem, why I am a good-fit for the tackling the problem, what am I bringing to the table, what value am I adding to the project success ? - Specific to that hackathon. If any participants see my problem-solving approach and like it , they can message me.
Instead of messaging of everyone and asking if they are interested and what they can bring to the table, its better to message those who have already done some home-work. The existing fields in a User's Bio page- is "generic". Adding a hackathon-specific text field for every user would help users showcase / market themselves better and prospective team-members will find it easy to find like-minded ones.
So, whenever a user registers for a hackathon, a new text field (optional) can be given(specific to that hackathon). Like :
"Why do you want to interested in this hackathon" ?
What value can they add to this projects' success ?
What value can they bring to the table ?
Rather than reading generic participant bio's , if the users are serious about that hackathon and already done some home-work, it helps prospective team members in identifying them.
In short, we need a new text-field (specific to every hackathon) in addition to the generic bio / skills fields.
What it does
Devpost has to give a new text field whenever a new user registers for a hackathon. In this text field , users can describe their thoughts about the hackathon, their value addition, ( without fully exposing their solution.) This will help bringing like prospective team - members to shortlist them and team-up faster as both of them are already on the same page. PS - this is optional field and be cautious that they dont expose confidential info.
How we built it
I would like to describe my hackathon specific problem-solving approach in that particular hackathon page.
Challenges we ran into
No major challenges identified.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
My idea is liked by other participants and would like to try out.
What we learned
How to empathise users and user role-playing.
What's next for My Hackathon Approach
I would like display my problem solving approach in the registered hackathon participants page where other participants can see and message me if interested. As I have already done my home work about the hackathon, I have set the agenda ready for further discussion rather than start from our introduction's.
