Inspiration

Inspired by me and my brother's many years of local co-op gaming during our childhood. We both have two different skill sets now and we use that duality to encourage others with differences to team up and solve problems.

What it does

It is a VR scale based platformer that uses the differences of the players to help them solve puzzles together.

How we built it

We used Unity game-engine, C#, along with Blender for the models.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part of this project was allowing two players to both exist and have control of their own character within a VR environment. We haven't seen a game or tutorial that has implemented this type of system before.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to achieve something that we have not yet seen done in a virtual reality environment and the potential this creates for future projects.

What we learned

Because VR development is still in its early stages, there are many obstacles which you can't simply look up on how to fix. However, through perseverance, we've come to realize that even though we are beginner level developers, these obstacles are possible to overcome.

What's next for My Friend the Giant

This game is envisioned as a medium in which people with emotional disability or developing children can hone real world social skills in a fun and innovative way.
