Inspiration

I've always struggled with a way to properly display my projects and showcase myself to the people I want to impress. Historically, I've used google sites and a custom domain name, but as a programmer, I need something a little bit more professional.

What it does

This Demo Site, built with Bootstrap and deployed through Github Pages showcases how I could build a portfolio easily with this sort of software. Though the project links don't lead anywhere yet, this provides an effective demo.

How we built it

I used a Bootstrap template to learn the basics of Bootstrap before editing it to fit my needs.

Challenges we ran into

When first downloading Bootstrap, I chose not to go through any of the tutorials. Looking at the software for the first time, it isn't necessarily intuitive. It took a while for me to edit my first color on the site, but after that things went pretty smoothly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Changing out the google map at the bottom of the page with a video from my youtube channel was particularly cool, but didn't end up being that hard.

What we learned

I learned just how easy it is too take a site from a service like bootstrap to live on the internet. I also learned just how powerful the github student pack is.

What's next for My First Bootstrap Site

I'll probably continue building out the site to replace my existing portfolio. The time consuming part is going to be populating the portfolio with easy to understand summaries of my projects. These will do the job better than my current detailed descriptions of each.
