InspirationIn =Formula 1, every millisecond counts. A slow pit stop can cost the race. We realized that software teams face the same problem: tasks get stuck in "In Progress" or "Review" just like a car stuck in the pits. We wanted to bring the efficiency of Williams Racing into Jira.

What it does =This application integrates with Jira to provide a visual, real-time "Pit Stop Timer" for every active ticket.

Dwell Time Visualization: It displays a timer on the ticket, showing exactly how long the task has remained in its current status (e.g., "In Progress," "In Review"). Threshold Alerts: Teams can set customizable time thresholds. If a task exceeds this limit (e.g., a task stays in "Review" for more than 2 days), the timer turns RED, signaling an immediate need for intervention—a "stuck car." Efficiency Reporting: Generates simple reports showing which statuses cause the most bottlenecks across the project, helping to optimize workflows.

How we built it= We built this app using the Atlassian Forge platform.

  • Used Forge UI Kit for a seamless integration with Jira.
  • Utilized the Storage API to track state changes and calculate time metrics.
  • Designed the interface to look native to Jira while adding a racing-themed flair. ## Challenges we ran into=

Accomplishments that we're proud of=Successfully getting the app running inside a Jira Issue Panel and seeing the timer update in real-time. It feels like we brought a bit of the racetrack into our daily work!

What we learned= We gained hands-on experience with the Atlassian Forge platform, specifically learning how to use the Storage API to persist app data securely. We also realized the striking similarities between high-performance racing teams and software agile teams—both require minimal friction and maximum efficiency to win.

What's next for Jira Pit Stop Timer= We plan to introduce an "AI Pit Crew" feature (using Atlassian Intelligence) that analyzes why a ticket is stuck and suggests quick fixes. We also want to add a "Grand Prix Leaderboard" where team members are ranked based on their task efficiency, adding a fun, gamified layer to project management.
