My Coach

Inspiration

I've never had a friend who had same ambitions or goals, but I've always seen people on internet who tell "Get a mentor, it crucial!", or "Write your friend and ask him to check you on your goals. Check on his goals and he will look after you, it's a win win!". I always get kinda motivated by that, but I don't really have friends who are willing to do that. Or a mentor, I don't even know how do people find them :) Left alone not paying for it.

What it does

It's basically a task manager, where you can assign the coach to call you to either punish.. (or comfort :) you for missing a task. Or even call you whenever you need a reminder for something important!

The main feature is that you actually getting a phone call from the coach, where he will leave you a message about the task!

One of the features I also thought of adding was the brainstorming with an AI, which will allow you to spit out all of your thoughts about the goal and the tasks you want to accomplish. Giving you an opportunity to let your chain of thought go, and structure it for you creating the task for it.

How we built it

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part was managing the phone call from the coach, I ran into countless issues trying to manage the pushes and screen changes to correctly authenticate it and play the message.

The other thing was the task creation via agent, it's really unique way of using an AI for internal tools, but it was alright and even fun :)

The real issues I've had is deciding the way to approach the voice input of the task creation to make it smooth and easy. As well as the Serverpod hosting, I like the ease of hosting the Serverpod locally with docker, but having a straight way to host it with Serverpod Cloud without accessing the wait-list would be awesome!

Hosting on Google Cloud Run is easy enough, but doesn't really allow you to have straight-forward implementation of Email auth because it's blocking the 465 port.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm actually happy for the way it turned out, that your challenge allowed me to implement my dream. I'm really proud of it, because I believe it will turn out to be a great app in future.

What's next for My Coach

Introduce chat with mentors. Fix minor bugs, since I've had consistent power outages in my country and couldn't devote as much time as I want to this.
