Inspiration
Many builders can create a working product faster than they can explain it clearly. For hackathons, early-stage startups, indie tools, and product teams, a good demo is often the difference between “this is interesting” and “I understand why this matters.”
The inspiration for MVP Storyboard Sprint came from a simple pain point: product screenshots are usually available, but turning them into a clear demo story still takes too much manual work. Teams have to decide the narrative, organize screens, write captions, define transitions, and prepare a pitch-ready flow.
MVP Storyboard Sprint is designed to reduce that friction.
What it does
MVP Storyboard Sprint helps users turn product screenshots into a demo-ready video storyboard in minutes.
Users can organize product screens into a clear product narrative, such as:
- the problem being solved
- the target user
- the main workflow
- key product moments
- user value
- closing call-to-action
Instead of starting from a blank document or video editor, the tool gives teams a structured storyboard foundation that can be used for product demos, pitch videos, onboarding explainers, launch pages, or investor presentations.
The current MVP focuses on helping builders move from raw screenshots to a coherent product story quickly.
How we built it
We built the project as a lightweight web application focused on speed, clarity, and practical demo preparation.
The workflow is centered around a few core steps:
- Add or organize product screenshots.
- Convert screens into a structured storyboard flow.
- Generate a clearer product narrative around the screenshots.
- Prepare the output for demo video planning, pitch review, or presentation use.
The product was designed to be simple enough for non-technical users, but structured enough to support founders
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was balancing automation with control.
A product demo cannot simply be a random sequence of screens. It needs narrative logic: why the product exists, what the user is trying to do, how the workflow progresses, and what value is delivered.
Another challenge was keeping the MVP focused. There are many possible directions, such as automatic video generation, voiceover, animations, brand templates, AI script writing, and export formats. For this version, we focused on the core value: turning screenshots into a clear storyboard structure.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a practical MVP that addresses a real communication problem for product builders.
The project helps reduce the gap between building a product and presenting it clearly. It is especially useful for hackathon teams, indie makers, startup founders, and product teams who need to produce a demo narrative quickly without spending hours in slide tools or video editors.
The project also provides a foundation for a larger product workflow system where product assets, screenshots, scripts, and demo materials can be generated and organized in one place.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we learned
We learned that a strong product demo is not only about visuals. It is about sequence, clarity, and intent.
Screenshots become much more useful when they are connected through a story: what problem the user has, what action they take, what the product does, and what outcome is created.
We also learned that early-stage teams need tools that are fast, guided, and flexible. The best MVP workflow should not force users into a rigid template, but it should still give them enough structure to move quickly.
What's next for MVP Storyboard Sprint
Next, we want to improve the product in several directions:
- AI-assisted script generation for each storyboard scene
- automatic scene grouping from uploaded screenshots
- demo video outline export
- voiceover script support
- brand and layout templates
- support for product launch, onboarding, pitch deck, and investor demo formats
- stronger integration with product documentation and presentation workflows
The long-term goal is to help builders turn product work into clear communication assets faster: demos, videos, tutorials, launch materials, and investor-ready presentations.
