Inspiration

Infectious diseases have been emerging in the past decades i.e. Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Avian Influenza (Bird Flu), and MERS-CoV (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus). Prevention of the outbreaks is our inspiration and challenge. Additionally, FLIR ONE has appeared in the market which enables thermal imaging for mobile devices. Thus, we developed the MuTHERM which a body temperature screening application.

What it does

MuTHERM is a non contact and waste-free approach designed and implemented for assisting in screening human body temperature.

How we built it

Despite the FLIR ONE has equipped with a thermal camera, it also includes visible band camera. Composition of both imaging aspects from the cameras benefits for face localization which we can further map the detected faces with temperature.

Challenges we ran into

Our mobile development experience is not much. Thus, we must have more effort and pay attention to learn coding and techniques to complete our mobile application, MuTHERM.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

First, It is great for us to learn and develop our mobile coding skills. Second, an opened opportunity to us to have affordable thermal screening especially in development country such as Thailand.

What we learned

Undoubtedly, we learned coding. Despite of that, we learned the way to come up with the ideas and participation between team members.

What's next for MuTHERM

We'd like to further develop MuTHERM for Android devices. Moreover, improvements both of measurement accuracy and computation time are the next major challenges for us.
