Inspiration
As schedules get busier, meeting up with friends has surprisingly become harder. Group chats get messy, plans fall through, and choosing a time that works for everyone feels impossible. We wanted to make it easier to turn “we should catch up” into an actual hangout.
What it does
Must Ketchup helps friends quickly coordinate and schedule hangouts by finding overlapping availability and keeping plans organized in one place.
How we built it
We built the frontend using HTML for a clean and simple user experience. The backend is powered by Flask and Python, handling routing and logic. We used MongoDB as our database to store user data and scheduling information.
Challenges we ran into
This was our first time working with MongoDB, which came with a learning curve.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Integrating MongoDB with a Flask backend for the first time. Creating a tool that solves a real, relatable problem we experience ourselves.
What we learned
We learned how to design and connect a backend to a database and work with MongoDB collections. We also improved our teamwork and problem-solving under time constraints.
What's next for Must Ketchup
We want to expand Must Ketchup by adding features like confirmation emails or text messages, and even an AI agent that can call restaurants to make reservations automatically, making planning hangouts completely seamless.
