Inspiration
Being a student is hard. Everyday we are busy with assignments, chores, and other tasks that preoccupy our mind. Because of this, we often find ourselves putting prayer, reading Quran, and other Islamic duties on the back-burner, and make excuses as to why we didn't (or couldn't) do our religious practices. Sometimes it feels as though there is not enough time to balance Islam and work-life. Inspired by this problem, we decided to create DeenFlow
What it does
DeenFlow is a Muslim-life management app that helps users fit their deen into busy work, school, travel, and everyday life. DeenFlow syncs with your Google Calendar and maps out prayer window heatmaps, overlaying the best possible prayer time built around your schedule. Additionally, DeenFlow focuses on building long-term daily habits. We incorporated attention-based recommendations for smaller duration duas, lectures, Quran recitations, and more to help users build momentum without overwhelming their schedule.
How we built it
We used Gemini & ChatGPT to brainstorm the ideas. We built the website on Loveable.ai
Challenges we ran into
In the beginning we had trouble figuring out what would make us stand out from other apps and websites that send reminders to pray, provide Islamic content, and help manage time. We wanted to stand out, but had difficulty finding what would make us unique. However we decided to focus on the long-term: becoming a better Muslim. Through gentle reminders, focusing on what is manageable with our schedule, and habit stacking, we built DeenFlow
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to create a website within a short 24 hour timeline, from the brainstorming stage to a prototype.
What we learned
We learned how to use AI to help us brainstorm ideas, how AI differs across various models, and how AI is used to help us code.
What's next for DeenFlow
We would want to develop the app and implement an email update & newsletter sign-up option on the website for future users.
