Musicle stick

Inspiration

I was inspired to create this as I, myself have created music recently, and I don't really know the process of getting my music onto the well known platform Spotify. I figured that there were more people like me who find that process either ambiguous or unattainable to an individual without a label or manager. So I figured why not take the opportunity with this hackathon and see what bolt.new could make with only one prompt!

Elevator Pitch

Musicle Stick is an AI powered “one shot” Bolt.new app designed as a launchpad to help independent musicians launch and grow their careers on Spotify. It walks you step by step through releasing your music on Spotify, complete with tutorials, checklists, and smart tips, then transforms into a real time dashboard so you can track streams, followers, and engagement. And with a friendly voice assistant (powered by ChatGPT and Eleven Labs), you can essentially ask “How do I get on Release Radar?” or “What’s my best next move?” and get instant, human like coaching. It’s like having your own label manager and growth strategist on a popsicle stick.

How I built the app

I built this app using bolt.new. I typed what I wanted the app to solve and help users with. It needed to have a Demo mode Dashboard (charts, stat cards, growth tips) and a Checklist View (expandable release steps with tutorials). I also wanted a floating popsicle-shaped mic button as the voice assistant to help users with any questions. I knew I wanted Musicle Stick to guide artists through pre-release tasks as the main objective, and secondly to visualize Spotify metrics while always offering voice assistance for any questions when it came to the process of releasing music on Spotify or thereafter. I integrated Open AI's API and searched for the perfect voice ID on Eleven Labs and integrated their API as well.

Challenges

A challenge I ran into was finding out how to get Open AI's and eleven labs API keys, and properly pasting it into a placeholder code that I got from ChatGPT to integrate the AI aspect into the prompt correctly.

Accomplishments

I'm proud that I was able to have a deliverable in two days, after planning it and brainstorming with ChatGPT and thinking of the features, name, UI and colors, although it is not perfect, having it to the point, where it is navigational and visually complete, gives the viewer an idea of what I was trying to create and without any bug issues was impressive. Also I don't have a background in coding so this was a first for me, because there was an aspect of diving into new waters.

Lessons

I learned that there is alot I dont know about integrating AI into an app, and the importance of being able to properly form a prompt makes all the difference in generating what you want. I also learned that starting with an idea that solves a for a niche issue that I was encountering is much easier, because you know who your solving for, and there aren't question marks of what would the user want, I knew what it needed to have because I was the ideal user.

Next Steps

Musicle stick, needs to provide alot more detail in how to accomplish each task in the checklist steps and then be able to integrate spotify with Musicle stick to be able to visualize the metrics. Currently, the demo had dummy info metrics but if I am able to actually complete the tasks and then connect my spotify account to Musicle stick, and be functional then I could move forward with improving the UI and User experience with the voice assistant.
