Music Mastermind

Inspiration

Music Creators come up with amazing ideas, but some of them are already out there as songs. We don't want them to waste precious hours of their effort just to get demonetized for "copying" someone else's music.

What it does

Which is why we made music mastermind. Users submit the chorus of their song, we go over a database of other choruses of other songs and see how much it matches based on the pitch pattern.

How we built it

We built it using a tool called librosa. It allows developers to get data about audio and we used it to compare pitches of different songs.

Challenges we ran into

Obviously nothing comes easy, and we were learning how to work with this module with time not on our side.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

But overall, we are proud of how we handled pressure under time, and created a rough model for an actual application in the music industry.

What's next for Music Mastermind

We plan to use whole songs as comparison rather than choruses and incorporate a variety of factors into deciding how similar a song is to another. And we would obviously continue expanding our database of songs but we weren't able to get that many mp3 files because of time and budgetary restrictions
