Music Generator

Inspiration

We were listening to some music and decided to make more music using an AI.

What it does

It creates music from existing sources. We input custom single note chords generated using a program and lofi clips, but it can be configured to take any file at all.

How we built it

We built it on Keras (machine learning), NumPy, and Music21

Challenges we ran into

We ran into problems with the AI's generation producing uncoordinated bits of music Also, the AI seems to like mashing keys but with proper chord spacing!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the music our AI generated.

What we learned

We learned about MIDI files, Keras, Music with Python. We also learned how to not go insane while waiting for Keras to train. (Even on a powerful PC it took 75 minutes.)

What's next for Music Generator

Applying more conventional chord progression and four part writing rules to the AI.
