Music for the Community

Our mission is to help local music artists gain exposure by posting their music and promoting their events. This not only helps the artist, but fosters a strong sense of community.

Inspiration

I was inspired by the people around me, because my sisters and mom are both very musical and have great singing voices. I also know many local music artists that aren't popular, but make incredible songs! I believe that with proper advertising and exposure, their musical careers can go far. I also strongly believe that music is what fosters community, which is something I wanted to show throughout my website.

What it does

Music for the community serves as a platform for local music artists to post new music, new events, and much more. It allows them the exposure they need to reach out to a wider audience.

How we built it

I used HTML, CSS, and Javascript. I also had to search up many different tutorials on how to use different components.

Challenges we ran into

This is only the second website I have ever built (and the first completely finished one), meaning I ran into many challenges. I was very unfamiliar with all three languages, which made it very hard to understand at first.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm so happy that I was able to make a finished website in so little time! I am also proud that I was able to figure out a completely new language and create a product from it. I also love the design of the website.

What we learned

I learned how to use 3 new languages and gained many skills. I also learned that I am capable to taking on a challenge and going for it!

What's next for Music for the Community

I may expand Music for the Community to my own city. If I am able to get local artists to post their music and make it an active website, then I will continue with the project. I also want to learn how to make the website easier to edit so that I don't have to change the pure code in order to make changes.
