Inspiration
We wanted to connect music to those who couldn’t hear. We felt that while us abled can hear when someone sings for us, the deaf can not.
What it does
Our idea for our project was to make a live sign language lyric translator, which would translate the lyrics into hand diagrams of sign language. With this, someone would be able to ‘sing’ for someone who is deaf. ## How we built it We used html, css, javascript for our front end, and used it with our backend built on java servlet ecosystem.
Challenges we ran into
We had a hard time incorporating the front end and the back end together, as we were unfamiliar with working with the java servlet, and using java as a back end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to make a working music player UI, as well as a text (image) pop up of sign language lyrics. This was difficult as we needed to use DOM from javascript as well as backend and its css interaction to work smoothly.
What we learned ## What's next for Music for All
One of the things we learned is that while it might be messy to begin with, with time we can clean things out and have a finished product.
