Inspiration
Recognizing the challenges emerging musical artists face on TikTok, we have developed an interactive solution focused on music discovery and fan engagement. Our new Music Discovery Page lets you explore and enjoy fresh tunes from emerging artists. We created a vibrant community where you can connect with artists, interact with other fans, and stay updated with official music news! Additionally, inspired by the music generation website Suno, our AI-powered feature allows you to recreate your favorite music clips with diverse genre templates, making your TikTok music experience more fun and creative. Dive in and discover, connect, and create like never before!
What it does
Our project centers around music discovery and consists of the following three main highlights, each related and complementary to one another, collectively boosting the music feature on TikTok:
- A music discovery page where users can explore new music from emerging artists, increasing their exposure and helping fans find fresh and exciting tunes. It also includes music recreations created by fans!
- A fan club that enhances connectivity and interaction between artists and fans, creating a vibrant community with official music news and updates from the artists.
- An AI-powered music recreation tool that enables fans to recreate music clips of their favorite artists using easy-to-use templates for diverse music genres, making the music more interesting and engaging.
How we built it
After generating the idea, we built a prototype using Figma and used it as our guide during the development process. We mainly used React Native as the framework and Expo to execute front-end development.
Challenges we ran into
One key problem we faced was developing the AI-powered music reproduction capability. Initially, we intended to upload soundtracks to Suno to generate new music, but we had issues with uploading the songs. To overcome this, we changed our strategy and used an API to capture the lyrics of the music. We then uploaded the lyrics to Suno, chose the desired style, and produced templates, which streamlined the music recreation process and enabled us to deliver high-quality results.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have developed this feature in a short period. Our diverse team, specializing in different aspects like coding, design, user experience, product management, and AI integration, worked diligently on different parts. Constant communication and collaboration ensured we stayed aligned and delivered outstanding results!
What we learned
We gained experience in integrating AI technology for music reproduction, enabling seamless functionality and user engagement. We improved our skills in React Native and Expo to create responsive and beautiful user interfaces. We identified ways to encourage connection and involvement between artists and fans, resulting in a thriving community. We gained a deeper understanding of the challenges emerging artists face, influencing our feature design.
