TonePilot is a songwriting tool that explains music theory as you write. You build a chord progression and set the key, tempo and number of bars. TonePilot then labels each chord's function and suggests the scales and arpeggios that fit, with a one or two sentence reason for each. It also marks the guide tones that lead into the next chord.
You write in guitar tab or sheet music, and notes outside the scale are flagged but never removed. Autofill can propose short phrases, but nothing goes into your song until you accept it.
A rule-based theory engine produces every suggestion. Claude on Amazon Bedrock writes only the plain-language explanations, working from the engine's output. Songs sync to Amazon DynamoDB. The app is built with Astro and deployed on Vercel. TonePilot is aimed at music hobbyists who want to understand why a note fits, not just be told that it does.
