Inspiration
As a group who listens to music often, we envisioned an application that allowed users to obtain an in depth look at their favorite artists and songs
What it does
It allows the user to input an artist's name and view the artist's general information, top 5 tracks, associated genres, and 5 similar artists as well being able to listen to part of the top 5 songs.
How we built it
We used node.js and express.js to gather API data for the artists which we then stored in MongoDB and then obtained and presented using react.js, css, and html, thus completing the full MERN stack
Challenges we ran into
Connecting the different technologies used in our project was definitely a challenge as we were working separately on each part of the stack. This, as well as, working with and learning how to use the Spotify API gave us a lot of troubles.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to get everything connected and functional as well as creating an aesthetically pleasing final product that we would all actually use in our real lives was a great accomplishment.
What we learned
We all learned how to connect backend and frontend technologies to achieve full-stack web development along with the benefits and challenges that come with it which was a great learning experience for all of us. We also learned how to work effectively in a group while also completing individual parts of the project.
What's next for Music Artist Info-Hub
We would love to get our product out to the masses with more statistical data, additional features such as the ability to search songs and albums, and add every Spotify artist to the database.
