Inspiration

Since the corona-virus outbreak 90% of the world’s museums are closed or facing closure. Even when Corona virus will be soon gone as we all hope, the way we approach museums and art in general will not be the same. We are proposing solution that will help museums cope with unprecedented times and use innovative solution to keep business continuity, improve presence and social interactions.

By arriving of the new Augmented reality media devices such as Mobile phones, Mixed reality headsets like Magic Leap and Hololens, and immense power of cloud computing, we are finally able to "upgrade" museums, and take them home, allowing us new interactive exploration options while keeping same social interactions as in the classical museums.

What it does

The project will help to achieve the 4th UN development goal: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. It will break down the barriers between art and education and, best of all bring happiness, right to our homes, through the enjoyment of beauty.

  • New Museum@home item collection can be uploaded and downloaded on demand, instead of prepared and installed in the physical space.
  • Museum@home Items can persist in physical space just as real items, in form of interactive holograms of scanned assets.
  • One physical space can contain numerous collections.
  • Museum@home user can pre-select item collections he wants to explore.
  • Leaving physical space and/or powering down device does not erase or remove collection, it is persisted in the cloud and bounded with the physical space.
  • New Museum@home user can fully interact with museum items: rotate them, scale them and explore item details.

How I built it

POC app is targeting AR headset Magic Leap, bult using AR foundation framework, unity and Lumin SDK. Final product will be targeting all AR clients AR foundation framework supports: mobile clients and AR headsets.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Intelligent UI that adapts to each individual user. Beside being optimized for each user height (making sure your kids will easily reach all item controls) holographic glass panels and hand triggered buttons rotate for optimal angle for best UI experience.

What's next for Museum@Home
