Inspiration
We wanted to do a sound based project, integrating both hardware and software. We realized we could streamline the process of customizing Pandora playlists using hardware, using body language as an indicator for "liking" or "disliking" a song.
What it does
Museicpla.net uses hand gestures as the primary method of indicating if a song is "liked" or "disliked." An outstretched hand indicates a "liked" song and a fist indicates a "disliked" song.
How we built it
Additionally, we built our own version of Pandora, using Android Studio and local audio files to supplement our library. We paired a Myo armband to our application, using its gestures to "like" or "dislike" songs to customize a playlist.
Challenges we ran into
We originally tried to to this on the Muse, but we realized none of us knew how to interpret the brain waves. Thus, we switched to the Myo armband.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to build a functioning music player in Android Studio!
What we learned
Playing with brain signals is cool, but we we should probably do more research before we play with tools outside of our respective fields.
What's next for MuseicPla.net
We hope to continue developing it, eventually moving back to the Muse! Also, we hope to be adding more to museicpla.net!
