Inspiration

I was inspired to create Muse because of how much music can impact us in our everyday lives. Music serves so many purposes, to make us laugh, have fun, get empowered, and so many more. Music has always been a huge part of my life and I wanted to merge that side of me with my tech side.

What it does

Muse first takes users through a set of questions to understand how they are feeling and their mental state. At the end of the quiz, Muse suggests a song for them to listen to. Users can go back to change their answers and listen to different songs.

How we built it

I built the app in XCode using the Swift language.

Challenges we ran into

I was a bit unfamiliar with the AVAudioFoundation, which is how XCode allows users to play music. So I was primarily learning along the way. Nonetheless, it was a great opportunity and I learned a lot!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am really proud of my UI for the app. I think it is super user friendly and inviting. I'm also really proud that I was able to learn a new concept (AVAudioFoundation) and incorporate in my app.

What we learned

I learned about the AVAudioFoundation and I think I got a lot better at app development.

What's next for Muse: Music Just For You

I hope to incorporate AI/machine learning into my app so that Muse can learn which songs work for which person and suggest other songs based on that data. I also hope to add more and more songs to the Muse library and hopefully link the app to official streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify.
