Munchies

Inspiration

We are a team of 3 Asian-Americans and 1 Asian immigrant. We all were inspired by a feeling of cultural disconnect.

What it does

Munchies is a a webapp aimed to help people of various ethnicities find cooking recipes that are close/related to their culture.

How we built it

The model was made in figma, and the webapp was developed in Visual Studio using Django.

Challenges we ran into

We experience several technical issues that hindered our progress toward the final product, including one of our member's computer being unable to run the proper virtual environment for importing and working on the project code.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the numerous obstacles, we still managed to create a promising prototype and successfully implemented working parts of the webapp.

What we learned

Developing a web app is surprisingly difficult and we went through many problems throughout our development. We learned to navigate through them and prioritize certain features of our application to make our development more efficient. We also learned to utilize various tools to address different aspects of our process, including Figma for planning and UI, and Django for implementation

What's next for Munchies

We want to continue implementing the features of Munchies to expand its capabilities! Adding more details to our users' posts (ingredients, time needed, etc.) and sharing recipes with other users are our top upcoming goals.
