Inspiration

Our team was inspired by our own experiences moving into Wake County and decided to research more about other people's experiences as well. Through interviews and trustworthy statistics, we found that our encounters were shared by others as well and this helped us in our development of MunchGuide.

What it does

MunchGuide allows its user to browse through the recommendations of Wake County's inhabitants in order to find suitable restaurants to eat out at. The user is able to manipulate their search results through the use of various filters and can view the profile of an individual to observe their recommendations. Additionally, the user can access the built-in map feature to obtain directions to a particular restaurant.

How we built it

We built MunchGuide through AppSheets, a platform which uses plain English and a spreadsheet-like layout to help users design an application.

Challenges we ran into

Our team found it hard to brainstorm ideas at the very start of our application development process and later on, found it difficult to set aside time to work on MunchGuide. With teamwork, we were able to work together to overcome our challenges and produce a viable product.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

MunchGuide started out as an idea, a thought. Now, it's our team's biggest accomplishment. We take pride in having taken something that was merely a drifting object and transformed it into a helpful, working application.

What we learned

We, as a team, learned about the importance of communication and collaboration. Sometimes, the most unlikely people can create something beautiful together and our team is an example of that. By reaching out to each other and staying informed in our application's progress, we were able to blend our ideas to create MunchGuide.

What's next for MunchGuide

We plan to add a randomizer feature that will allow indecisive users to generate a single restaurant with the click of a button. This will also help a group of people (ex: large family, couple) to pick a restaurant without hassle. We plan to upgrade the UI by transferring our application to a different software that has more options for manipulation. Additionally, in order to create a more diverse database, we plan to reach out to more reviewers to help with this project.
