Munch: Recipe Discovery

Inspiration

My mother is the best cook I know! I may be biased but her Cuban dishes are truly delicious. She is the reason I made this app. in a few days I'm getting married and moving out with my wife. unfortunately my mother will be all alone now, so I made her this fun cooking app for her to pass the time doing what she loves the most.

Finding recipes and cooking them in her own style.

What it does

Imagine Tinder but for recipes. Our apps core functions is to swipe left to skip a recipe, swipe right to save a recipe, once a recipe is saved. you will have all the instructions and ingredients needed to recreate it, It also has other features like taking a picture of your pantry and creating a recipe with the resources you have available.

How we built it

I used Rork to build the app. the recipes was the hardest part.

Challenges we ran into

I had to create my own API wit over 5000+ recipes for the app to pull from.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm pretty happy with how the app turned out! I think it has potential as a real app.

What we learned

We learned a lot about Recipe generation since we had to build the app from scratch!

What's next for Munch

The plan is to launch Munch to the app store and hopefully partner with Eitan Bernath.
