Inspiration

Everyone has a relationship with food. We have all struggled with deciding where to eat to spend under budget, deciding where to go when all 3 people in a team want different things, and some of us have faced road bumps when facing the food community. Our app was created to help foster close-knit communities that can help each other find the right food hotspots for everyone's individual needs. We have also noticed that in an ever-growing gentrified world, some of our community members have been left in the dust where these new ways of ordering food via electronic platforms have been near impossible for them to navigate on their own. This is why our app keeps everyone in mind. There are ways to track different aspects of your food journey for healthy and budget-safe choices. Our simplistic design and step-by-step guides help the elderly learn to keep up with the growing tech world. Review pages where community members can input their opinions about accessibility ensure human-to-human connection drives this platform. In conclusion, this app is a way for the young to help those who we need to care for the most.

What it does

Takes collected data about food preferences, reviews, notes on accessibility, convenience, community member opinions, and price range to create explore pages that suggest options to the user. Keeps track of personal data such as most frequently visited restaurants, favourite cuisines, etc. Has a simplified step-by-step guide to help customers order food, communicate with servers, and conveniently pay. Has a personal profile to display information such as dietary restrictions. Tools to help those with language barriers.

How we built it

Our app prototype is built entirely using Figma.

Challenges we ran into

As this was both our first time using Figma, the entirety of the project was a big learning challenge. We were especially tasked with understanding variables, making the prototype function, and understanding layouts

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the design and layout of the application, as well as our idea to help the elderly adjust to the tech world today that started us on this project.

What we learned

How to use Figma from scratch (navigating complicated layers, panels, and tools found in the software).

What's next for Munch

With more opportunities to learn how to code, we can create this app and make it available for community use. This app will open the doors for everyone and have people walking into the food community with assurance and confidence.
