This project is an Open-Smart Multi-Modal Travel Routing Platform. Giving travelers lots of efficient, fuel saving, pollution reducing, and more fun travel options. It combines city-based mass transit such as buses and trains along with localized taxi, bicycle rental, and any other local transportation businesses and other modes. Then the system uses smart Uber-Like smart routing to focus on local options to save fuel and reduce congestion. The smart routing also offers unique traffic avoidance options. The end result is it can offer travelers many potential routing options, all designed to meet the user's desires for their journey.

As traffic and congestion increase, commuters are delayed, more fuel is wasted in traffic, and pollution increases as congestion has more vehicles trapped in traffic.

This project works to solve those problems and benefit cities by:

Reduce Congestion - by offering multiple modes to the same destination. This includes primary transportation like trains and buses, as well as taxis, bicycles, scooters, and even rickshaws.

Saves Fuel - by using Uber-like smart routing to route travelers to the most local modes and options. This also reduces pollution.

Helps Local Businesses - by using smart GPS routing to offer their local transportation options to travelers. For each leg of travel, the most local option is found, which also saves fuel, and reduces pollution.

*An example is taxi routing. The video will demonstrate that the system also tries to find the most localizes taxi service. When taxis compete into another taxi companies service area, they are more likely to create more congestion as they cross paths with competing taxis. That extra congestion leads to fuel waste and pollution as taxis also have to travel back into their original service area (often empty and without passengers). Wasteful. This system uses an Uber-Like smart routing system to direct travelers to local services for each leg, saving time, helping local business, saving fuel, and reducing congestion (as well as giving the traveler lots of more interesting options.)

More Options For Travelers - because with this system travelers can find routes using an unlimited number of travel modalities, alternative modes during high times of traffic are always available. Plus, since transportation providers can add themselves to the system, the number of options for travelers is always increasing, creating an ever expanding list of options for travelers across multiple modes of transport.

Health Benefit Options For Travelers - allows travelers with a more vigorous disposition to choose options based on sight-seeing, and even health benefits when planning their routes.

Localization For Any City - Matches are based on GPS range tracking distance algorithms based on service areas combined with what type of travel the user is requesting (speed, sight-seeing, etc.)

Mapping For Convenience - for every leg of multimodal journeys, mapping is offered so users can find each leg, and for convenience, safety and comfort.

Nation/City Friendly APIs - Currently for demonstration purposes, Google APIs are used for geolocation and mapping. But the system is pre-designed to be easily changed out of respect for different nation's requests that have GPS and mapping, such as China. So the system is pre-built to be changed to whatever service China requests.

Train & Bus Routing - This demonstration includes metro routes and lines in Chongqing. So line numbers and connection information is provided to make sure the traveler has a stress free journey.

Open Platform - so it can constantly grow and offer users more and more options as time goes on, spreading travelers out, reducing congestion, saving time, fuel and lowering pollution.

Ford OpenXC Integration - The system already has a database of elements which can include individual Ford OpenXC equipped vehicles such as taxi locations (to see if there is a particular companies taxi near you), and also bus locations, delays and other vehicle information that can vastly increase efficiency of the whole system, travelers, fuel use and reducing pollution, and save the companies and municipalities in fuel costs, and reduce pollution.
