Flashcards are an incredibly useful tool for studying languages, but they aren’t always convenient to make and carry around.
Having flashcards on your Glaxy Gear 2 device would be ideal:
- you probably have it with you most of the time
- you’re not constrained by physical size limitations
- you don’t have to worry about running out of note cards
- the right app could even throw in a few extra features to help you study.
MultiLingo app is a set of predefined flashcards to help you to study German, Italian, Spanish and Polish. More languages can be added in the next round.
App is kind of spaced repetition software (SRS) application. It means it will force you to repeat the words or phrases until you will learn them.
The main advantage of this app is that you can increase your vocabulary even if you are on the move. Because of the very clear and intuitive interface you can use it when waiting for a bus, jogging, at work or even riding bicycle.
But I know this app is not perfect, and that's why in the next phase of the contest I plan to enhance it by:
- adding more categories for each of the languages
- integrating it with an existing flashcard website, so users will be able to sync their existing flashcards to the app
- adding Android UI to let users create their own flashcards
- adding ‘notification’. This is the most important change. For instance, if you have a problem remembering some of the words, they will be sent to you as ‘notifications’ during the day.
I believe smart-watches are a perfect tool for vocabulary learning. To learn vocabulary you need to repeat it as often as possible. Using Galaxy Gear you can easily be encouraged and supported with new words at any time, and you can repeat them, no matter where you are.
