🛍️ About the Project This project is a Multi-Tenant AI-Integrated eCommerce Platform designed to allow multiple vendors to manage independent stores under their own custom domains. It features intelligent product recommendations, real-time analytics, and AI-driven customer interactions. Built with scalability, performance, and personalization in mind, the platform serves as a modern foundation for vendor-based eCommerce systems.
💡 Inspiration The idea came from observing the growing demand for customizable online storefronts that don’t require technical expertise. I wanted to create a flexible platform where businesses could manage their own shops with built-in AI assistance. My goal was to combine multi-tenancy with smart automation to help vendors thrive without hiring large tech teams.
🛠️ How It Was Built Frontend: Built using Next.js (App Router), TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and ShadCN/UI for a sleek, responsive UI. Backend: Developed with Node.js, Express.js, and MongoDB. Tenant isolation is handled through subdomains and scoped data models. Authentication: Implemented using NextAuth.js with JWT strategy, domain-aware access control, and role-based permissions. AI Features: Integrated OpenAI (ChatGPT) for smart chat and product content generation. Used LangChain + Pinecone for contextual search and product recommendations. Deployment: Frontend deployed on Vercel, backend on Render, with containerization using Docker and security powered by Cloudflare. Additional Tools: Includes Stripe for payments, Redis for caching, Zustand/Redux for state management, and ElasticSearch for intelligent filtering.
🚧 Challenges Faced As a solo developer, balancing architecture, design, and functionality was a major challenge. Multi-tenant routing, session management, and AI integration were complex areas that required extra focus. I had to research and implement secure domain-based authentication, optimize performance for multiple tenants, and experiment extensively with AI prompt engineering.
Due to time and resource constraints, the platform is currently a work in progress, with several features in prototype or under testing. However, the core multi-tenant structure, authentication flow, and AI modules are functional and tested in isolated scenarios.
📚 What I Learned Architecting multi-tenant SaaS platforms from scratch. Real-world integration of AI and semantic search in eCommerce flows. Advanced knowledge of authentication, API design, and server-client communication in a full-stack setup. Managing project scope, deadlines, and realistic MVP planning as a solo developer.
