The Multi - Level Emergency Alert System is an IoT-based solution designed to enhance the safety of elderly individuals living alone in residential flats, inspired by real-life situations where emergencies such as gas leaks or sudden health issues go unnoticed without immediate help. The project uses an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with an MQ-7 gas sensor to detect carbon monoxide levels and a PIR sensor to monitor human movement, enabling the system to identify critical conditions like gas leakage combined with inactivity. We built the system by connecting sensors to the ESP32, processing real-time data, and implementing decision logic to trigger alerts through a buzzer, Blynk notifications, and Twilio SMS messages, along with a manual emergency button for instant assistance. During development, we learned about IoT integration, sensor calibration, and real-time communication systems, while facing challenges such as false sensor triggers, threshold tuning, and API integration issues. Despite these difficulties, we successfully developed a reliable prototype that ensures continuous monitoring, quick response, and improved safety, making it a practical and cost-effective solution for smart elderly care environments.
