Inspiration

This game has been one of my best works. It represents my culture and my art style. This world takes me back to when I used to stay up until 7 a.m. playing Call of Duty: Black Ops with my girlfriend.

What it does

Every round, you get a set number of zombies to eliminate. For example: Round 1: 4 human zombies Round 2: 6 zombie dogs And it just keeps increasing... Each round gets progressively harder. Every fifth round features a boss fight, and as rounds advance, the zombies get faster and stronger.

How we built it

I took the old primitive world and exported it to Blender, taking the opportunity to improve and redesign the cabin. For the coding, I had to recreate everything in TypeScript—which was painful but rewarding. I also created a brand new UI system for the HUD. For mobile, I added a new feature called Auto Shoot, so now all the player has to do is run around—the weapon fires automatically.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was adapting the game for mobile. Originally, it was just VR, and mobile didn’t work properly. With this revamp, I made sure mobile wasn’t just playable—it’s good. I designed a new UI system and implemented the Auto Shoot feature specifically to improve the mobile experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m really proud of creating a strong foundation for future expansion. I was able to take an old primitive-based world and convert it to trimesh and TypeScript in 1 mouth. I’m also proud of my updated scripting style—I’ve made the zombies much more optimized and efficient.

What we learned

I’ve been learning what it truly takes to finish a project on time. I’ve also learned to rely on my team to bring my vision to life. Special thanks to Evarrie for the 3D zombie models. I had a vision for this game, and he came through with amazing zombie designs. I’m truly happy to have worked with him.

What's next for Muertos Zombie Game

This project means a lot to me, and I plan to keep working on it beyond this competition. One big goal is to create a Story Mode. Example: Chapter 1 – Village You start in a 1950s-style rural town. The villagers are terrified of the monsters that come out at night and are begging you for help. Your task is to survive the night and eliminate 100 zombies. After that, a boss appears. Once defeated, the town is freed and Chapter 1 is complete.
