Inspiration
We talked to Ian Robinson, an SES officer, and he outlined exactly what he wanted to see developed. We used his idea, enhanced it slightly, and voila!
What it does
Volunteers register to be called upon by the SES in a time of disaster. In such a time, the SES pinpoints an evacuation location on a map, and volunteers are given a list of tasks they can do. These include cooking, unpacking boxes, cleaning etc.
How we built it
We had Rachel, our graphic designer, design the front end. Ash built the back end using Java and Serene created an automatic sms service with Python.
Challenges we ran into
Organizing the group to accomplish every task on time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Coming up with idea, working so effectively as a team, producing so much in such a small space of time.
What we learned
We learned about the SES's evacuation methods.
