๐ŸŽฎ About the Project: MT Royale Tap Trap Showdown

๐Ÿ”ฅ Inspiration

Tap Trap was born from the idea of creating a fast-paced, high-energy game that tests both reflexes and precision in an immersive, competitive environment. I wanted to design something that felt like a cross between a game show and a survival challenge, with intense gameplay, vibrant visuals, and interactive features that pull players in from the moment they enter the world.

My love for shows like Wipeout, Floor is Lava, and interactive VR experiences fueled the vision. I also wanted to push the boundaries of whatโ€™s possible inside Horizon Worlds, especially with scripting and UI systems.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ What I Built

The MT Royale Tap Trap Showdown combines a sleek custom design, complete branding package, and fully immersive game logic. Here's a breakdown of the key features:

๐ŸŽฏ Leveling System I created a dynamic leveling system where players earn XP based on their tap timing and trap survival rounds. When players enter the world, a trigger zone detects their presence, checks their progress, and displays their current level on a UI leaderboard and wall board.

๐Ÿ† Leaderboard Integration A persistent leaderboard tracks the highest-level players in real time. It pulls data from the leveling system, updating automatically as users compete and level up.

๐ŸŽต Music Integration (Custom AI Workflow) To create the perfect sound for Tap Trap, I took a DIY approach:

  1. I used Suno, an AI music generator, to create a high-energy track specifically for the game.

  2. I then used a separate app to speed up the music and match the tempo with gameplay.

  3. Finally, I recorded the audio using my desktop computer and uploaded it into Horizon Worlds using the Record Gizmo.

This hands-on process gave the world its own vibe โ€” hype, custom, and totally original.

๐Ÿง  UI Gizmo I built a fully interactive UI Gizmo for both mobile and VR. It displays player levels, tap timers, start countdowns, and โ€œYou Win!โ€ animations. Every panel and animation is optimized for smooth functionality across platforms.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Mobile + VR Compatibility Tap Trap was designed with cross-platform gameplay in mind from the very beginning. I tested and optimized every element in both VR and mobile, ensuring a smooth, responsive experience for all players.

๐Ÿงฉ What I Learned

This project took me deeper into TypeScript, UI logic, player state syncing, and immersive design. I learned how to debug in real time, optimize for mobile devices, and integrate external tools like Suno AI and the Record Gizmo to bring my creative vision to life inside Horizon Worlds.

๐Ÿšง Challenges I Faced

Getting the leveling system and leaderboard to communicate properly across multiple sessions and devices took multiple testing rounds and logic rewrites.

Horizon doesnโ€™t support direct music import, so I had to build a creative workaround: using Suno for AI music, editing the audio, and recording it into the world with the Record Gizmo. That process took time and precision.

Making the UI fully responsive on both mobile and VR required unique layout adjustments and interaction logic.

Balancing memory, animations, and real-time multiplayer sync was another challenge that pushed my scripting skills.

๐ŸŽฏ Outcome

Tap Trap is now a complete, tournament-ready experience with dynamic competition, original music, a working leveling system, a custom leaderboard, mobile and VR compatibility, and a strong visual identity under the MT Royale brand. Itโ€™s not just a game โ€” itโ€™s a show.

I'm proud to submit this world for competition as a fully immersive, player-focused experience built with strategy, creativity, and heart.
