Inspiration

There are around 8.5 million American students with dyslexia (congressional report), dyslexia individuals on average have higher illiteracy rates, highschool drop rates, and are far more likely to end up in prison. The study the Prevalence of Dyslexia Among Texas Prison Inmates (Moody KC, et al Tex Med 2000.) found 48% of them have dyslexia. But doesn’t have to be this way MSL has been shown to improve dyslexics students performance with reading and writing dramatically and is the gold standard when comes to teaching students who struggle with reading and writing and although there are hundreds of application that help children learn to read write, despite an extensive search of this application they solemnly follow a non-traditional teaching path. We aim to build an application that is built to provide more tools for parents and educators to better serve their students with learning disabilities. We also understand that students are best served when MSL tactics are used by trained professionals in person but as the recent events have shown that not always an option and even though we can’t perfectly emulate the in-person experience that is not an excuse to not provide quality tools to tackle this problem.

What it does

it's a react native app that was supposed to have four features all using MSL teachings and the home and about pages but was only able to completely finish the drawing pad

Challenges I ran into

Time constraints and lack of knowledge of react native and it's APIs

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

that all of use first-time hackers took on such an ambitious challenge
