Inspiration

What it does ‘mrmr' is the voice of your plants. It takes a scan of your plant’s environment and gives you a reading that indicates how you should take care of your plant. We feel like the health of your plants is important and so we developed this object so anyone can know what is best for plants. ‘mrmr’ is not only a tool to measure your plant’s health, but it is also an outlet for learning about your plants as well. The app has a fun facts section that is also useful for the community, in gardens and in farms around Red Hook.

Challenges:

  1. Learning how Particle works, including hardware and APIs. Learning HTML Learning about the sensors’ specifications Figuring out the dimensions of the box, which required many prototypes to get it right.

Proud of: We persevered through every problem to make the idea a reality.

What I learned: We learned how to successfully use Particle and HTML and to labor cut precisely.

In future models we want to: Optimize the moisture sensor Include a soil sensor that measures the nutrients in the soil. Create a more efficient way to recharge and/pr power the battery, such as with solar power. Find a way to upgrade the firmware remotely. Create a silver and slicker body.
