Inspiration
This project was inspired by the countless hardworking individuals who go the extra mile to earn additional income while delivering services that reflect their unique skills and talents. Many of them are skilled workers who simply need better visibility and easier access to clients. At the same time, this initiative gives me, as a developer, the opportunity to turn a socially impactful idea into a reliable and sustainable business.
What it does
Mr. Handyman 1.0 is a job-hailing platform designed to connect homeowners and individuals with local service providers. Whether someone needs help with plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, or general handyman tasks, the app makes it easy to request a job and get matched with the right person for the task. It simplifies the process of finding skilled help — fast, safe, and convenient.
How we built it
I built this app using bolt.new as the no-code frontend builder and Supabase as the backend service provider. This allowed for faster development without compromising essential features like authentication, job posting, user profiles, and real-time data handling.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge was the scope of the project — it’s a large-scale idea, and I often found myself running into platform limitations like token limits. These issues tested my patience and required creative problem-solving, especially when working with no-code tools.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m incredibly proud of the fact that I was able to bring this idea to life from scratch — and even more so because I built the entire platform without writing a single line of code. As a programmer, I know how much work goes into software development, and this experience has shown me the power of modern no-code tools.
What we learned
This project has been a powerful learning experience. I've realized how transformative AI and no-code platforms can be, especially for individuals who are passionate about solving real-world problems but may lack the technical resources. These tools are not only accessible — they’re empowering.
What's next for Mr. Handyman 1.0
This is just the beginning. I plan to continue developing Mr. Handyman 1.0 with more features, enhanced user experience, and broader service coverage. My goal is to turn it into a go-to platform for job-based services and eventually scale it into the next big solution in the job-hailing space.
