Mozzarella Empire

Inspiration

Our team is made up of two immigrants that did not have a strong financially literate background who struggled with applying to colleges and financial aid without a lot of knowledge in finance and credit scores. We made Mozzarella Empire in the hope that students and kids around the world will be able to learn how to manage money for their future. On our way to TAMUHack, we stopped by Sonic and got their Mozzarella sticks. They were so good, we decided to incorporate Mozzarella sticks into our submission.

What it does

Our project teaches younger and older kids about financial literacy. They sign up and learn about the risks and how investing works with more things that we want to implement

How we built it

We tried out multiple different programs such as pygame, flutter, and Vilo by Wix, but ultimately decided to use code.org as it offered the best way for us to make our UI and code more interactable and visually appealing.

Challenges we ran into

Picking the challenges we wanted to go for was difficult, as the one we originally wanted to go for was more complicated than we thought. The type of language and website to code with was also changed multiple times before settling on code.org.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our game is working and aptly shows our vision for our concept and will allow us to help our mission of spreading financial awareness. It is also left in a state that is adaptable and will allow us to add on and create a better game.

What we learned

We learned each team members’ skills and weaknesses and how to not obsess over one part of the project because you can always come back with fresh eyes.

What's next for Mozzarella Empire

Fully fleshing out Mozzarella Empire would include unique art, more topics, more integrated game mechanics, and ways for users to learn about investing and credit scores and how to build them up.
