Inspiration

you know whats up : )

What does it do

Synthesise a range of instruments and allow us to create tracks for music, instruments can be layered on top of each other to create this track.

How we built it

Using the python library "gemsound". The Library itself has some very difficult syntax and awkward functions, a large part of our development was making this library efficient and intuitive to use.

Challenges we ran into

The man issue we ran into was the issues within gemsound, primarily some extremely restrictive functions, rules and structures we had to work around Originally there were plans to synthesise instruments such as a guitar. However during development we discovered that modelling a guitar inside code is in fact an open research topic which professors have spent numerous years working on.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Joe's incredible track (Mozart especially is proud)
  • Seans visualiser (everyone is really super duper proud, like so much)
  • George's use of samples and pushing the limits of gemsound
  • Fin's jolly good crack at synthesising a guitar and then using it to make music

What we learned

It's worth shopping around a bit when looking for libraries. But also how to make the best of a bad situation.

What's next for Mozart

The man? Anything The project? a refactor of epic proportions. Most likely a language change or at least a change of library.
