Moving Towards Zero! is a campaign concept that seeks to promote waste reduction and local commerce through challenges. Each campaign has personalized challenges co-created with the client and is accompanied by communicative actions and prizes for the participants. The intention is to work on the acquisition of sustainable habits in an enjoyable and fun way while taking stock of the impact of our actions.

Inspiration

1.- We want to promote a change of habits, so through climate education we promote sustainable habits in people. 2.- Promotion of the local trade: We promote conscious consumption and local commerce 3.- Generate environmental awareness: We show the environmental impact of our actions and purchase decisions

What it does

We launch a campaign to participants with 30 challenges (10 easy, 10 intermediate and 10 advanced). We measure the amount of waste that has been avoided thanks to the actions of the participants and we give them rewards for their actions.

How we built it

With Dart, Flutter and Google Cloud. We used gamification techniques in order to make the whole experience more fun.

Challenges we ran into

UX, people want to overcome the challenge with two or three clicks and sometimes it takes more clicks.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have done the campaign with more than 20 town councils, 30 enterprises and 50 schools. More than 50.000 challenges have been overcome and more than 200.000 waste pieces have been avoided.

What we learned

People want to take action to fight climate crisis but they don't know where or how to start, if you propose to them some small actions and create a path to more difficult ones but you help them the impact is huge at the end of the campaign.

What's next for Moving Towards Zero Waste

Create more campaigns with bigger cities, companies and educational centers. Include new features and generate more impact in terms of waste reduction and promotion of circular economy.
