In the moving industry, miscommunication, inefficient planning, and safety risks are daily challenges, especially for those from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Imagine an XR tool that visualizes optimal packing strategies, offers real-time multilingual communication, and provides immersive safety training.The solution not only streamlines the moving process but also dramatically reduces injuries, bridging gaps in experience and language. By integrating technology with the physical demands of moving, we're revolutionizing an age-old industry, making each move safer and more efficient. Let's transform the moving experience together.. This project created base on my observation while working in moving company as new immigrant new country to support my studies. Additionally durning design process, I utilised my expertise in design research and participatory design to navigate the project instead of designing for people: I aim to design with people & community. We use participatory design and AI tools to reflect, critique, and question the current. Later on use Adobe Aero to test out mock-ups and prototype, facilitate co design season with employees with wide range demographics, community, heritage. - Planning with XR
Spatial Visualization: Use Augmented Reality (AR) to visualize the placement of items in the truck. Employees can virtually "place" items in the truck, optimizing space utilization before physically moving them.
Route Mapping: ImplementAugmented Reality (AR) walkthroughs of the moving path, especially in complex environments like apartments with stairs. This helps in pre-planning the move to identify potential obstacles.
Interactive Checklists: AR overlays can provide employees with real-time checklists, ensuring all items are accounted for and tasks are completed in sequence.

Assemble & Disassembling:ImplementAugmented Reality (AR) to figure out how to divide moving item into modular smaller pieces or make custom DIY adjustment if necessary.

- Communication using XR
Multilingual Support: Given the diverse backgrounds of employees, AR can overlay translations or provide visual cues, bridging language barriers.
Remote Expert Assistance: In situations where experienced movers are not on-site, they can provide guidance remotely. Using Mixed Reality (MR), a less experienced mover can share their view, and the expert can guide them, drawing or highlighting objects in real-time.
Team Coordination: Using AR, team members can "tag" or "highlight" specific items with instructions or notes visible to all team members with XR devices.
- Safety Enhancements through XR
Lifting Tutorials: VR can provide immersive training sessions on proper lifting techniques, reducing the risk of injury.
Safety Overlays: AR can overlay safety zones or highlight potentially hazardous areas, like wet floors or low ceilings.
Physical Feedback: Integrating haptic feedback devices with VR/AR can warn users of potential risks or incorrect lifting postures. ( Future possibility not in current scope )
- Integration with Physical Tools
Exoskeletons: As you mentioned, physical safety exoskeletons can be paired with XR. For instance, the exoskeleton can be integrated with the XR system to guide the user in real-time on how to lift heavy objects correctly.( Future possibility not in current scope )
Wearable Sensors: Wearables can monitor the physical condition of the mover, such as heart rate or muscle strain, and provide real-time feedback through the XR system. ( Future possibility not in current scope )
- Feedback and Improvement
User Feedback: After each move, employees can provide feedback through the XR system, suggesting improvements or highlighting issues.
Data Analytics: The XR system can gather data on each move, analyzing patterns to suggest optimizations or identifying common challenges.
User Journey Mapping
Awareness: The mover becomes aware of the XR tool through training or recommendation.
Consideration: The mover explores the features of the XR tool and understands its benefits.
Acquisition: The mover gets hands-on training on how to use the XR tool effectively.
Use: The mover starts using the tool in real-world scenarios: planning, communicating, and ensuring safety.
Reflection: After completing a move, the mover reflects on the experience, giving feedback or suggestions for improvement.

Challenges we ran into
Doing filed reacher thanks to my personal network I manage to connect people and companies had opportunity to talk with them. I realised I need to update my 3D skills, I have more mastery in CAD & 3D printing therefore I need to learn more Blender, Unity , Aero going forward into future. This hackactorn was good start. AI tool are great way to engage with people use in codesign workshop as well as, use them assistance during projects from ideation to editing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Developing idea that really improve people wellbeing, ideating around solution base on struggle I had as immigrant while durning my studies. Long story sort I was woking in moving company in mind 20s unfortunately got injury that provides me pain even today unless I follow stick physical treapphy. I got this injury because , I was over relayed on my muscles & youth , had hard time communicating with due to lack of skills in local language. I hope this kind XR solution will help out people to perform challenging jobs safer & secure.
What we learned
Iterate , prototype fast use them probes to explore future implementing tools and methods from speculative design and participatory design. Collaborate with people design with people instead of for them. Really on my expertise in design research and partivaptiry design& speculative design was great help. Consider both people , community, business and employee experience.
In my work at H&M I have chance to reseach learn Adobe products working in backend ( Asset management so on ) I believe using them as planning tool can be great opportunity. What if planner or manager use some version Adobe AREO and or Asset Management Solution to create digital XR plans and moving company later on can use Unity to develop custom made in-house software for their employee...
What's next for Moving Box
Moving industry definitely will benefit design introducing tools/ products to help planning & communication or else physical safety extra skeletons and so on. In this project I am exploring XR part of idea. Hopefully this hactoron will lead into funding to explore this idea further.
