What it does
Movie Roll is a a word game on Reddit where you guess the movie from movie clips. Clips can be from movies, TV shows, and TV series. If you guess correctly, you'll earn points and climb the leaderboard. You can click 'Create' to upload your own movie clips for others to solve.
How we built it
- I have a little experience in Devvit Web from previous games I made, using mainly React then pushed it to Reddit.
- I also did some UI/UX design on the buttons, the game animation and sound.
Challenges we ran into
- I had a challenge to get a button to go to another game post, because Devvit has specific structure for post URL
- A few hiccups on UI/UX design to make it look more smooth
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Upload the game to Reddit
- Integrating game sound and animation into the game
What we learned
- Making simple game animation
- Responsive user interface
- The capabilities of Devvit - my favorite medium to release games so far
What's next for Movie Roll
- I might change the design a little bit
- I might allow longer clips in the future like for trailers and teasers
