Inspiration

I love the MCU movies, and wanted to include something movie-related in my data analysis.

What it does

The script accesses the API from themoviedb.org, and analyzes the movie rating from the request. All ratings come from IMDB originally. For now, the movies in the graph need to be in a movie code specified by the website, since the API makes it difficult to freely look up movies, and make a request.

How I built it

All the movie codes are in an array, which my script will go through and make requests for each one. Data for each movie will be added to separate arrays which will be graphed.

Challenges we ran into

The API is limiting in what it can do, but hopefully I can find a way to make user input possible. For example, users could look up a movie and have it be compared.

What I learned

How to plot graphs using plotly.

What's next for Movie Ratings Viewer

Hopefully, allowing users to enter movies, and have them compared in ratings vs. the MCU movies.

Update: I was able to allow user input! However, you need the IMDB movie id, which is found in the link to the page. I've uploaded a video showing the use. You can input the movie id in the console after the prompt, and you can add as many movies as you want. The prompts stop after an empty input. The movies you enter will be compared in ratings to all the MCU movies.
