JKLM.fun

What it does

My program strived far from JKLM, which is basically a game of hot potato had a hybrid child with Scrabble. My program provides the user with the IMDb description of one of IMDb's top 250 movies, randomly chosen, and they have 3 chances to guess the title of the movie.

How we built it

Languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript; Editor: Visual Studio Code; Funny Answer: Blood, Sweat, and Tears;

Challenges we ran into

Collecting the data from the API I used to get the descriptions and titles of the top 250 IMDb movies was the most painful process imaginable. I lost friends, family, dignity, and more to the horror of trying to do that with only vanilla JavaScript. Other participants contacted their sponsors and said they thought the host building was haunted, but they were just hearing my wails of pain through the night while trying to comprehend async functions. I feel more than deserving of being carried out of the competition on a stretcher just because of how much the fetch function crippled me.

Adding an easter egg that no one will ever find.

What's next for Movie Bomb Party

Try to make it multi-player, cover a wider range of movies, and resemble the JKLM game it was inspired by more.
