Inspiration

MoveShare started from wanting a simple way to stay motivated with friends. Apple Watch makes this easy when everyone uses Apple devices, but that breaks down when friends use Android phones or different watches.

I wanted something cross-platform, private, and focused on encouragement rather than public competition.

What it does

MoveShare lets friends privately share workouts, give kudos, and stay accountable through shared goals.

Users can follow goal progress, contributing workouts, and streaks. MoveShare Pro adds group goals, deeper activity insights, weekly recaps, and full activity history.

How we built it

MoveShare is my first mobile app. I built it around the workout data people already track, using Apple Health on iPhone, with Android and Health Connect support planned next.

RevenueCat powers MoveShare Pro and the subscription experience.

Challenges we ran into

My background is backend engineering, so the biggest challenge was UI and UX.

I spent a lot of time simplifying flows, especially shared goals, where progress, workouts, streaks, and multiple users all need to feel clear without making the app complicated.

Privacy was also a key design constraint, so workout sharing is limited to people users intentionally add as friends.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud that MoveShare has grown from a personal problem into a complete mobile product with private workout sharing, social interactions, shared goals, streaks, subscriptions, and activity insights.

I'm especially proud of keeping the experience simple while still giving users useful ways to motivate each other.

What we learned

I learned that building a good mobile product is very different from building a backend.

Small UX decisions can matter as much as the underlying technology, and often the best solution is removing complexity rather than adding another feature.

What's next for MoveShare

The biggest next step is Android support, so friends can motivate each other regardless of which phone or watch they use.

I also want to keep improving shared goals, Pro insights, and the social features that help people stay active together.
