Inspiration
One of our team mates has a severe knee issue which requires therapy. Because she is a teenager she wants a more fun way of doing her exercises. This app provides her and countless others the opportunity to do physical therapy in an innovating and exciting way.
What it does
Our app allows both therapists and patients a new way to do therapy. The patients have daily assignments where they will be graded on accuracy and number of repetitions and then ranked on a scoreboard. Physical therapists can log in to assign new challenges as well as check the patient's recovery process using the sensor data from each excercise.
How we built it
Our team used MIT app inventor, Unity gaming software, Metawear sensors, as well as Openshot to create all the videos.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled learning how to collect sensor data
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Having a fully functional app, having working sensors and data output, and a diverse set of challenges.
What we learned
We learned how to have better teamwork as well as how to use the metawear sensors to register data and turn it into a tool for physical therapists to use. We also learned how to create an app in 24 hours.
What's next for Movementum -CyberSisters
We plan on further researching this topic as we truly enjoyed it. We want to continue to develop this app to have multiple exercises for people with different injuries and create a more interactive scoreboard. We also plan to start doing more hackathons to further our education.
