Inspiration
It has come to our notice that it is very inconvenient to find and adjust my sensitivity for different games every single time. Additionally, people who are new to the games don't know how to make this conversion, so creating a website on this topic would help them to familiarize themselves with different games more quickly.
What it does
When inputted with DPI and in-game sensitivity from the game the user wants to convert and the in-game sensitivity of the game the user wants to find out, the calculator will automatically generate the new mouse DPI.
How I built it
We used a website as our UI and JavaScript to handle the back-end calculations.
Challenges I ran into
When we did the research for the project, we couldn't find much data for the 360 degrees/cm ratio. Thus we picked a few games to test out their 360 degrees/cm ratio. In order to have greater accuracy for the calculator, we built functions to calculate DPI and in-game sensitivities. We encountered difficulties to connect the User Interface and back-end calculation. To do so, we used an HTML website as our UI and Javascript to handle the back-end calculations.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The product, although not perfect, is fully fleshed out.
What I learned
- A more in-depth look into HTML and JavaScript.
- More diverse and advance CSS to build better page layout and typography
What's next for Mouse sensitivity calculator
- Incorporate screen object tracking algorithm to get better accuracy.
- Support more games.
- Make it a mobile app.
- Support calculations with field of view
- A new icon for the website
