Inspiration

All of our team members love travelling and both of us have a similar bad experience of "reaching-a-place-to-get-stuck-in-bad-weather". So, we made a decision this weekend to find a solution to this problem. So that not only us, but a lot of other people who love travelling can also use it.

What it does

The website, we've built from scratch, has one goal. Fetch weather forecast for the next 10 days of your choice. Here's an example: If want to visit New York City❤️ this weekend, you can enter New York city on our website and enter the date. Boom! You'll be shown a forecast for 10days from the given date. But wait, there's more.... You might feel overwhelmed with the 10 days weather forecast, so we've simplified things for you. You'll also be shown an aggregate that 10days weather. So, you can quickly decide when to plan your trip to New York City❤️.

How we built it

We have used APIs:- VisualCrossing Weather API Languages/Frameworks:- HTML/CSS/JavaScript

Challenges we ran into

Even though this looks pretty simple, this took a lot of our time and work. This is the first time our team members including me to use APIs. So there is a lot of learning that we have to do before getting that API to successfully work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting our head around and using the APIs to serve our needs initially was overwhelming for us, but it became very exciting when we were about to finish the project.

What we learned

Learning is all we did, haha.

  • We have learnt how APIs work and also how to use one.
  • We went deeper with using JavaScript and found out that JS is a very powerful language.
  • PS: We also learned how to use online collaborative tools more efficiently. (not directly in the scope of the project but we thought it's a worthy learning to post here)

What's next for Mountain Munch

The next step for Mountain Much is very clear: to modify the aggregated suggestions(probably replace it with some ML script, we don't know yet. Gotta figure it out :-) Since the present aggregation is not sufficient to give accurate suggestions for planning your trip.
