Inspiration
Car meets have long been male-dominated spaces, often leaving women feeling outnumbered, underrepresented, or excluded. These environments can be intimidating and unwelcoming for women who want to explore their passion for cars or simply engage in automotive discussions. We wanted to create a safe space where women not only discuss their passion projects, but also create car meets in safer environments. The idea started when a cousin of mine had to bring her older brother to a tire shop because the last time she went, the mechanics made her believe that she needed new brakes and also an oil change. She ended up spending the little savings she had into an unnecessary expense. This is why we made sure to create an AI bot named "Mechanica" that helps people understand what their cars issues are, and how much they should pay.
What it does
The website promotes women to empower each other by creating car meets, discussing future cars/modifications and overall share their passion for cars. Additionally the website creates an inclusive environment for newer enthusiasts, or anyone who is trying to learn more about their car by the inclusion of an AI chat bot. The chat bot was trained to work as a actual car mechanic that also is capable of giving a rough estimate of the pricing, looking to give users the most efficient and cost effective parts possible.
How we built it
After hours of planning, WAADing and wireframing, we came up with the a website design and functionality that will provide a positive experience for all users. We created it using JavaScript, React, CSS, HTML, openAI trained chat bot.
Challenges we ran into
Initial design, color scheme, aesthetic, and layout of the website was difficult in the beginning. However, after researching common themes amongst popular women dominated websites and car manufacture websites, we found a even medium that is both aesthetic and user-friendly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of the fact we created the first website that promote empowering women in the field of cars and the first website that provides an assistant to ensure our users to do not get overcharged for their car needs.
What's next for Motorettes
Next up for Motorettes is to hit the mobile market and end up on every car enthusiasts phone. We want our platform to transform into the next wave of social media, but instead of the current toxicity, we want a healthy platform that promotes people to meet in real life and display their prized possessions. Their cars.
