Inspiration
We derived our inspiration from the fact that many people, particularly us high school students, tend to struggle with productivity. We wanted to implement a system where we could relax while doing very heavy tasks, taking inspiration from websites such as I Miss My Cafe.
What it does
The very friendly user interface brings you to the welcoming screen where you can rate your day from very terrible (as shown by the 😭 emoji) to very happy (as shown by the 😁 emoji). From there you can choose to place your tasks on our to-do list and check off any tasks you may have completed. You can also choose to listen to music from our randomly generated Lofi beats through the click of a button.
How we built it
We built our motivational app using Code.org and borrowed our copyright-free Lofi beats from Youtube
Challenges we ran into
We initially began working on our app on Replit and started on a good start but then we were presented with a bug that would consistently print "Hello World!". From there, we were on a very tight time crunch and persevered to find another platform to do our work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Since our team was relatively new to hackathons, we struggled immensely trying to get our code to work. However, through our teamwork and collaboration, I feel as if we were able to push through and get our app to work. We are incredibly proud of the progress we have made through using a new platform neither of us were familiar with and collaborating for the first time. We are very proud of our work and our teamwork, making a new friendship along the way!
What we learned
We learned how to collaborate, ask the mentors when we needed assistance with our code, and we learned how to navigate the App Lab on Code.org
What's next for Motivational App
We would like to create a much more friendly user experience and stick to a much more cleaner theme.
