Inspiration
The inspiration for MoodMotions stemmed from my deep interest in animation and a desire to use that passion for a greater cause. While exploring the technical aspects of motion design, I became increasingly fascinated with how animation could serve a therapeutic purpose, particularly in supporting those with cognitive challenges. Having seen the profound impact caregiving can have on both patients and their families, I recognized a gap where design could play a role in making the caregiving experience more comfortable and emotionally supportive. The idea was to create animations that went beyond mere aesthetics, animations that could help reduce anxiety, offer a sense of familiarity, and foster emotional connection. This project allowed me to combine my technical skills with a personal desire to contribute to something meaningful, offering a tool to ease the day-to-day challenges Alzheimer’s patients and caregivers face. Through MoodMotions, I hoped to merge the power of design with compassion, showing
What it does
MoodMotions is designed to enhance the experience of an app for Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers by integrating soothing animations that provide emotional support and comfort. The animations are crafted to be simple, calming, and intuitive, aiming to create an environment that feels familiar and easy to navigate. By using motion design, the project seeks to reduce anxiety and provide a sense of stability for patients, helping them feel more at ease throughout their day. These animations also support caregivers by offering moments of relief and a visual cue to guide their interactions with the app. Each animation is designed to align with the cognitive needs of the users, ensuring that it’s not only aesthetically pleasing but also emotionally supportive. Whether it’s a simple motion to signify progress or a more intricate animation to convey a sense of calm, MoodMotions adds a layer of emotional depth to the caregiving experience, helping to improve the well-being of both patients and caregivers.
How we built it
I built MoodMotions using Figma to design the animations and LottieFiles to bring them to life. The animations were carefully crafted to be simple yet effective in providing comfort and emotional support for users.
Challenges we ran into
One of the major challenges was ensuring the animations were not only visually appealing but also emotionally supportive and easily understandable. Striking the right balance between simplicity and emotional impact was crucial.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud of creating animations that have a meaningful purpose, providing comfort to Alzheimer’s patients and caregivers. The project also allowed me to develop my animation skills and learn new design tools in the process.
What we learned
Through this project, I learned the technical aspects of animation design using Figma and LottieFiles. I also gained a deeper understanding of how design can have a significant emotional and psychological impact on users.
What's next for MotionMoods
The next step for MoodMotions is to refine and expand the animations, making them even more personalized and tailored to the needs of Alzheimer’s patients and caregivers. I also plan to integrate user feedback to improve the overall experience.
